This class offers a welcoming and inclusive approach to asana (posture) practice for practitioners of varying practice experience and ability levels. Yoga philosophy including the 8 limbs of Raja Yoga are often incorporated
Yoga for Core Stability This class focuses on inviting physical strength within the "window " of kindness/ahimsa. Postures focus on the four layers of abdominal muscles as well as strengthening the back body and balancing postures. Energy anatomy including the solar plexus chakra and the bhandas or energy locks are sometimes incorporated. All levels, moderate practice open to beginners.
Yin Yoga This is a slower paced floor practice where postures are intentionally held for longer periods of time (1-5minutes) while inviting the muscles to release in order to gently "stress" the connective tissues of the body for increased hydration, circulation and energy flow. Mindfulness practices are incorporated in this slower more meditative practice. Open to All Levels Including beginners.
Restorative Yoga This practice invites the relaxation response in the nervous system by fully supporting the body with props (blankets, cushions and pillows) in various yoga shapes while moving the spine in various directions (as useful for your spine). This is a supported and more receptive approach to practice. Open to All levels including beginners
Gentle Chair Yoga This class focuses on accessabilty with the use of a chair for support. Participants are invited to explore movements to promote health and mobility including both strengthening and stretching the body as well as mindfulness techniques to assist with building mind-body connections and a positive relationship with the present moment. This gentle class is open to all ages and ability levels-no prior experience is neccesary.
Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation that systematically guides and relaxes you at every level of your being, including the physical, energetic, mental, emotional, and spiritual layers (called the five koshas). Class often begins with a brief opening of gentle movements followed by a supported reclining posture (savasana)
